Think about a time you said "as soon as you can" - and it wasn't. You asked someone to handle something important. You were friendly, low-pressure, didn't want to seem demanding: "Whenever you get a chance." Then the deadline arrived, the work wasn't done, and you were frustrated with them - even though you never actually told them when you needed it.
